The iPhone Duo starts at $2,999 CAD for 256GB and rises to $4,799 CAD for 2TB. Apple is offering 24-month financing through Affirm at $124.96 per month on the base model.

Canadian buyers are paying an implied exchange rate of roughly 1.50 against the US dollar, noticeably above the roughly 1.38 spot rate at announcement. That works out to about $240 CAD more than a straight conversion on the base model. A maxed-out 2TB Duo clears $5,000 CAD once HST is added, which in Ontario means about $5,423.

Supply on a first-generation hinge design tends to be tight, so if you want a specific storage tier or colour, pre-ordering in the first hour matters more than it does with a standard iPhone launch.
Design and build
The iPhone Duo is a book-style foldable with a short, wide “passport” shape rather than the tall narrow profile of most Android folding phones.

Open, Apple calls it the thinnest iPhone ever made. At 254 g it is heavier than any conventional flagship, which is the trade you make for two batteries and a hinge.
The frame and hinge cover are grade 5 titanium with a mirror polish. The front uses Ceramic Shield 2 and the back standard Ceramic Shield, while the inner folding panel gets a scratch-resistant coating instead of glass. It carries an IP68 rating to six metres for up to 30 minutes, which is stronger water resistance than any competing foldable currently offers.
Two colours: Star White and Night Sky.
Posable positions
iOS 27 adapts to how the device is angled rather than just scaling up:
Closed — a normal phone, with controls shifted to the side for reach
Open portrait — wider keyboard, more room to scroll, pin a video above another app
Open landscape — Split View for two apps side by side
Seated — propped at a viewing angle with controls along the bottom edge
Standing (tent) — StandBy turns the cover screen into a clock, photo frame or widget display
iPhone Duo displays
Both panels share the same aspect ratio, so content scales proportionally when you open and close the phone instead of reflowing awkwardly. This is the detail that separates the Duo from earlier foldables.

A custom vapour chamber handles thermals, which is what makes sustained performance possible in a 5.2 mm chassis. Apple has not published the RAM figure; reports point to 12GB but it remains unconfirmed.

The chip is identical. The 18 Pro wins on cameras across the board — a real telephoto, variable aperture, a higher-resolution selfie camera — and on price. The Duo wins on screen area, multitasking and the folding-only camera tricks.
Should you buy the iPhone Duo?
Buy it if you want a tablet that fits in a pocket and will genuinely use Split View, long reading sessions, video or hands-free propped-up calls. The dual-display system and posable iOS are the product; everything else is secondary.
Skip it if photography is your priority. The iPhone 18 Pro is the better camera phone, costs $1,250 less, has Face ID and shipped five weeks earlier.
Wait if you are cautious about first-generation hardware. Independent durability and crease testing won’t exist until units are in hands after 23 October, and folding panels remain more fragile than flat glass regardless of the IP68 rating.
